Youth Friendly Corners handed over to Mityana District

On 24th September, 2025, Action 4 Health Uganda officially handed over the newly renovated Youth Friendly Corners in Mityana District. The ceremony was held at one of the new corners at Malangala Health Centre III in Mityana District.

The spaces will provide youth-friendly health services to young people in Malangala Sub-county and neighboring areas.

Mityana District Health Officer, Mr. Kawooya Vincent, welcomed the initiative, noting it as a step forward in improving health service delivery for young people, despite limited resources.

The youth representatives expressed heartfelt appreciation to Action 4 Health Uganda (A4HU) and the TeamUp Uganda program for creating a safe and inclusive space where they can freely access healthcare services.

“We now have a place where we feel welcome, understood, and cared for,” one of the youth representatives shared. “Before, many of us hesitated to seek care because we feared being judged or treated differently.”

Adding her voice, Nabatanzi Rebecca, the Focal Person for Adolescent Health at Malangala Health Centre III, emphasized the broader impact of this transformation:

“The introduction of youth-friendly health services has greatly improved healthcare delivery at the facility,” she said. “Before this space was designated for young people, only a few would come because of fear of stigma and discrimination. Now, we receive more than 900 young people every month.”

This remarkable increase reflects not only improved access to care but also growing trust between young people and the health system. This milestone, made possible under TeamUp Uganda, reflects our continued commitment to empowering young people to access the care they need and realize their full potential.
